The project
Alderney Commercial Quay is in urgent need of remedial works in order to be able to continue to serve the community in the future.
Beckett Rankine was commissioned to provide technical assistance to the States of Alderney in the development of the project. Early in 2008, the States of Guernsey agreed to assist with the funding of the renovation work to the quay. Beckett Rankine was retained by the States of Alderney to carry out the detailed design.
In March 2008, following competitive tendering and value engineering, the States of Alderney signed a Contract with Geomarine to carry out the construction work. In addition, a Contract was signed between the States of Aldereny and Beckett Rankine for the project management of the Contract and site supervision.
It is anticipated that the work will take 18 months although the programme is very much weather dependent.
This site uses notes and photographs from the engineers on site to allow the community to keep up to date with what is going on at the quay.
