Alderney Quay Refurbishment

For the first time, two large container vessels have been able to berth simultaneously at Alderney.

The quay is now being used for a new freight service provided by Huelin Renouf, a video of the MV Huelin Dispatch using the quay is available at the Gurnsey News Channel Online website.

The enlargement of the commercial quay means that it can now accomonmdate larger cargo vessels.  On Saturday, the Huelin Dispatch carried out a successful berthing trial and became the largest vessel to tie up alongside in Alderney.

Geomarine poured the last concrete slab today under the current phase of the project

The fencing, which will be installed on Thursday, is the last item to be completed before the Harbourmaster takes over the new facility in January 2010.
